Another
characteristic of this village is that at the river shore
is collected a great quantity of small grain sand for building
activity, it is produced by the grinding of the stones hauled
by the river. Some very important buildings, like "La
Casa Colorada", a national monument located at Santiago
downtown, have been built with this sand.
