"El Morado" National Park
93 Km.
south-east from Santiago, after traveling for just one hour
and a half through Cajón del Maipo, we find the Natural
Park "El Morado, right amidst the Central Andes. This
protected zone is under the administration of CONAF (Government
Forestall Office). It is formed by the canyon of "Río
Morales" River and the mountains around it. It covers
a surface of 3,009 hectares.
Many enterprises
of adventure tourism include this big park and all of its
attractions on their routes for expeditions; along with the
River here we also find El Morado lagoon and San Francisco
glacier, this makes this spot a unique attraction because
it is at a very short distance from our capital city; it is
possible to organize a short visit for the day, you may access
the place after a short walk of 2 hours, as well as a visit
for several days to visit all the surroundings.
The best period for visiting this spot is from December to
March.
El Morado
mountain is the highest of the zone, its summit, which has
a very characteristic shape, is at 5,000 meters over the sea
level, this makes this spot to be one of the most attractive
for the mountaineers, thus there is a great variety of offers
to organize climbing trips.
This natural
reserve has a wide variety of birds typical from Chile and
a very diverse flora, among these we can find specimens which
can be spotted only here. This makes this place especially
suitable for taking pictures of unique and original beauty.

conditions make this park to be closed from May to September..
