"El Manzano" Village

Being located at 37 Km. from Santiago and 10 Km. to go to San José de Maipo; in the past it was the main Customs Office's check point to regulate the cattle traffic by the region, to and from Argentine; the village created around it was called "El Manzano".

Many of the old paths through the mountain range disappeared because of earthquakes or covered by the wild vegetation. The International Pass of Los Andes (Cristo Redentor) replaced the old roads which went from Cajón del Maipo to Argentine.

From a touristy point of view, El Manzano is an ideal place to have a restful day walking around with your family.

At this village we find the old station of the military railroad, it was proclaimed Historic Monument on 1991. From this station the minerals extracted from the mines of the region were transported to Puente Alto.

In this zone you have the departure point for sightseeing excursions to the interior of El Manzano stream where you find a beautiful creek with low bushes like "Litre" and "Boldo" (peumus boldus). Among the mountaineering places recommended, are the hills "Las Torrecillas" and "Palestra" which are good places for climbing.
